Like A Boss

Chris Christie graces the cover of TIME Magazine this week, but he is not too keen on the photo choice or the caption.
When questioned about the cover, Christie said that he took offense to the insinuation that he is some sort of “Mob Boss” because of his Italian-American heritage.
The ambiguous nature of the picture and the caption can lead the reader to a number of different conclusions. ”The Boss” is in part a reference to Christie’s favorite musician Bruce Springsteen. This is, however, just a surface analogy.
Christie being likened to a Boss of some sort could (and probably does) refer to his brash nature, his dominant personality, the fact that many Republicans want him to take charge of the GOP, and a not-so-subtle jab at New Jersey’s not-so-subtle past full of political bosses and mafia influence.
Perhaps I am looking too into this, but if we are talking about subtleties, the picture of Christie on the TIME cover reminds me a little too much of Vladimir Putin’s when he won Person of the Year. Just Sayin’. If Christie is going to be upset about anything…
